Skilled Labourer / Trade Assistant — Saint Ignatius' College Riverview
About the role
Picture Built is hiring a skilled labourer to work as a trade assistant and offsider to our qualified carpenter on site at Saint Ignatius' College Riverview, a large campus in Lane Cove. You'll work alongside the carpenter day to day — helping carry out repairs, maintenance and minor building works across the College grounds, and keeping the jobs moving.
It's a full-time, on-site role under a 12-month agreement. You're employed through Picture Built and work as part of a two-person crew with the carpenter, taking direction from him and from the College's Maintenance team. Jobs come through on an iPad.
What you'll be doing
Supporting the carpenter on a varied run of work — prepping jobs and materials, lending a second pair of hands on repairs and installs, patching and painting, fixing doors, hinges, locks and furniture, installing whiteboards, shelving and fixtures, gutter and roof cleans, fence and gate repairs, flat-pack and equipment assembly, and helping on larger staged jobs like servicing and reinstalling lockers. Some are urgent safety items; most are general maintenance keeping the campus in good shape for staff and students. You'll also handle plenty of straightforward tasks on your own once you're across the site.
During school holiday periods, you will have the opportunity to work on larger construction projects with Picture Built. This may include bathroom renovations, kitchen upgrades, office refurbishments, and other improvement works across the school.
This provides variety in the role and the opportunity to develop your skills across a broad range of construction and maintenance works. Also Saturday work with our renovation team in the Sutherland Shire will be offered to you if wanted.
