As a Cane Rail Labourer at Wilmar Sugar and Renewables, you’ll support track, bridge, and civil construction and maintenance activities, including earthworks, track laying, and the operation of maintenance equipment.

This permanent position is based at Pioneer Mill in North Queensland's Burdekin region, known for its stunning landscapes, rich agricultural heritage, and a vibrant community. The Burdekin region offers a fantastic lifestyle with a warm climate, beautiful beaches and a range of recreational activities, making it a great place to live and work.

During the crushing, this position operates on a continuous rotating day shift roster, which may include weekends and occasional overtime. Once the crushing is complete and the Mill enters the maintenance period, the role switches to a day work schedule.

Your Role in Action

  • Managing a small Gang of Personal
  • Maintenance & Construction- Hands-on work in the field
  • Derailment Response Champions- Support and assist during derailments across the region

Your Winning Combination

We are seeking candidates with experience in civil construction, strong communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and a keen focus on safety.

While the following qualifications are requirements of this role, we are prepared to provide training to people who possess the right aptitude:

  • Dogging HRWL
  • Working at Heights
  • Front-End Loader Operation
  • MR (Medium Rigid) License
  • Non Slew Crane HRWL

Desirable tickets:

  • Intermediate Rigger High Risk Work Licence (HRWL)
  • Advanced Scaffolder HRWL
