About Balonne Shire:

The Balonne Shire is located along the beautiful Balonne River, just five hours' drive west of Brisbane on the QLD-NSW border. Balonne Shire Council has a dedicated team of 110+ staff and population of 4,500 people who live in the surrounding towns of St George, Thallon, Dirranbandi, Bollon, Nindigully, Mungindi and Hebel.

About the Position:

Balonne Shire Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Water & Sewerage Labourer to support essential infrastructure services across the Balonne Shire.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, values teamwork, and takes pride in maintaining vital community assets.

As a Water & Sewerage Labourer, you will:

  • Assist with the maintenance and construction of water, sewerage, stormwater, and culvert infrastructure

  • Support water supply and sewerage treatment operations

  • Perform general labouring duties across parks, roads, waste, mowing, and more!

  • Work safely and collaborate as part of the Infrastructure Services team

Your work helps to ensure our communities have safe, reliable water and sewerage services.

About you:

  • Current MR Class open drivers licence

  • Construction Induction White Card

  • Ability to work within teams, ensuring work tasks continue in the absence of a supervisor

  • Willingness to work at heights or in confined spaces (training provided)

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in labouring or manual handling roles

  • Ability to follow procedures, complete basic paperwork, and work effectively in a team

What we can provide:

  • Salary cash component $62,010 per annum

  • Locality allowance $1,945 per annum

  • Permanent, full-time hours

  • 9-day fortnight (fortnightly Rostered Day Off (RDO)) 

  • 4 weeks annual leave
