Established in 1950, Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative is 100% owned by fishermen and license holders supplying the Co-operative and is operated for the benefit of members and the communities in which they operate.

GFC specialises in the processing and exporting of Western Rock Lobster. With approximately 70 percent of Western Australia’s commercial rock lobster catch flowing through its supply chain, GFC is the world’s largest rock lobster processor and is a significant contributor to the WA economy.

GFC supports fishermen, employees, licence holders, and their family members along a thousand kilometres of WA’s coastline.

About the Job

GFC operates all year round to service members up and down the coast, while seasonal activity peaks between November and March we are looking for motivated team members to join us immediately.

The Labourer position duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of timber and packing bags

  • Bagging wood shavings

  • Loading bagged wood shavings onto trucks and stacking waste timber

  • Forklift operation

Working hours can vary but generally speaking will be up to 38 hours/week Monday - Friday with overtime and Saturday availability required during the peak catch season (November - March).

The morning start times are early, starting between 04:30 AM - 5:00 AM. 

Essential Job Requirements

  1. Ability to pass a National Police Clearance (Our Welshpool facility is a known consignment facility and security clearances are required).

  2. Ability to pass a pre-employment Medical.

  3. Fit for work and able to pass random alcohol & drug testing.

  4. Safety: A desire to want to work in a safe environment, to be safety conscious. This position WILL involve contact with timber products and machinery.

  5. People: Ability to deal with situations calmly and diplomatically that allows open communication and rapport at all levels of the organisation.

  6. Technical: Ability to follow instructions in English. Basic numeracy, literacy and reasoning abilities.

Desirable 

  1. Experience: worked in a light to medium industry production process workplace.

  2. Forklift Ticket: High Risk Work Licence (FL)

The Rate

The Rate is based on the Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award 2020, level C14 & C13, the pay rate level will be decided depending on the applicant's skill level.
