We currently have an opportunity available for a capable and experienced labourer for work with a bridge maintenance team based out of Waratah.

PLEASE NOTE: this role will require you to work at Port Macquarie for the first 3 weeks - accommodation provided. You will then revert to a work base at Waratah.

Ideally applicants will need to have prior experience with bridge maintenance or similar civil construction work.

This role will involve working full time hours of work (9.5 hours/day, 4 days/week) for an initial period of approximately 6 months - with potential of further work being available for good quality workers. Night work may be required at times.

Successful applicants will need to be able to follow direction and have common sense. You will be required to undertake a range of functions relating to maintaining timber, steel or concrete bridges, including assisting trades workers.

Previous experience in the areas of bridge work, builders labouring, concreting, formwork/falsework, carpentry or plant operation such as excavators would be a good match for the needs of this role. An understanding of basic hand power tools would be advantageous. Plant operating tickets, high risk tickets and/or working at heights will be highly regarded.

Duties of this role will include:

  • general cleaning and sweeping of bridges & culverts;

  • painting of concrete, timber and steel structures;

  • housekeeping of site tool sheds & trailers;

  • formwork and falsework for concrete bridge elements, kerbs, end posts, topping slaps, wing walls, base slabs;

  • chainsaw and adze work on large timber bridge elements, girders, piers, kerbs;

  • steel fixing;

  • use of basic hand and battery tools.

Applicants will need to currently reside in the Wagga area or have confirmed accommodation available for an immediate start of work.

  • current WHS White Card - essential

  • current unrestricted Australian driver licence - HR preferred

  • traffic control ticket and experience

  • good all round fitness for manual work tasks

  • previous experience with bridge construction or maintenance - highly desirable 

  • Workers on Foot (WOF) training course, or willingness to complete online before commencement of work

  • working at heights or other high risk tickets would be advantageous
